Surviving the Christmas Season
Our final event for 2014 was held at Comfort Inn, Sovereign Hill where members were welcomed by a Redcoat at the entrance
Damien Adler, a psychologist and the Director of Mind Life Clinic, was our guest speaker. Damien is passionate about demystifying psychology and presented a practical approach to de-stressing our lives and the vital importance this has on our health and wellbeing.
Our members really enjoyed the session and Damien provided lots of food for thought/tips.
Four Main Stress Signs were highlighted:
1. Changes in cognitions or thought processes;
2. Physical symptoms or autonomic changes;
3. Changes in emotions;
4. Changes in behaviour.
Damien highlighted the importance of recognising your stress signs and also covered useful strategies on how to reduce stress. These included Writing a list, Relax your breathing, Body scan - focus on your body and Mindful Walking.
The Comfort Inn, Sovereign Hill was an ideal venue and no request seemed too difficult for the wonderful staff. Members enjoyed a banquet lunch while door prizes and raffles were drawn. Included in our prizes was hand pampering provided by Bree from The Body Shop and also small gifts for members.
The Raffle, won by Georgina from Ray White Real Estate, raised $146 which will be given to the 3BA Christmas Appeal.
Overall a great day and thank you to our members for making ‘Surviving the Christmas Season’ such an enjoyable event.
